I started seriously taking pictures when I was awarded a travel grant at the age of 16 from my local Rotary Club. The grant was for the film and developing during my year living with a host family in Norway. The grant provided funding for 1,100 slides and developing. This set of images started my life long love of photography. While photography has never been my full-time job, I have always had a camera near by. I have sold photos at craft fairs, used pictures to create a curriculum about the Maori in New Zealand and for 10 years I was the staff photographer for Prost Soccer covering the New England Revolution and soccer in New England. My work has been used by non-profit organizations to support special locations. Currently I am using my photography to support causes and locations that are important to me.
I am a photographer who is fascinated by the world around me. While currently nature is the focus on my work, I deeply enjoy most photographic challenges and I delight in the pictures that result.
Photography is about 30% knowing your equipment, 30% doing your research so you are in the right place and about 40% luck. You never know what

Photography is about 30% knowing your equipment, 30% doing your research so you are in the right place and about 40% luck. You never know what will unfold and being willing to go with whatever presents itself makes it easier to capture cool pictures when they happen.
What appeals to me about photography is the challenge of capturing the image. What doesn't appeal to me is lots of computer work, so other that light editing on a few images, the pictures you see here are what I have captured in the camera.
Call it organic photography.
I discovered Campobello Island a number of years ago and I fell in love with the easy access it provides to whales, eagles and other wildlife as well as the friendly people. I have returned many times and have shot over 50,000 images of the island. And, I am just getting started!

Campobello is located just over the bridge from Lubec Maine and I highly recommend planning a visit to enjoy the island beauty, go on a whale watch or to learn about history at the Roosevelt Campobello International Park which showcases the summer home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt.
